                                                                                      Competition Conditions

 

1. The competition, over Pitlochry Golf Course, shall be open to Amateur Golfers as approved by the R & A.

2. Competitors must lodge their names and addresses with the Tournament Secretary, together with 

   a note of Handicap, certified by the Secretary of their club. The Handicap limit is now 24 (Also open to those

   under 18 years of age on the first day of qualifying and a playing handicap of 9 or less, at time of entry).

   All competitions are qualifying and strict CONGU rules will be observed. Entries will close on Saturday,

   12th July, or earlier if a limit of 200 has been reached. Late entries will be accepted until Thursday 24th July

3. There will be an entry fee of £60, which must be sent with an entry form. Pitlochry Golf Club members are

   entitled to a discount fee of £30 and Country members, £50. Cheques made payable to Pitlochry Golf

   Course Limited. Entrants will have the courtesy of the course from Sunday to Thursday. On Sunday a

   competition for the George Hogg Memorial Trophy will be held. The winner will receive a miniature cup.

   On the Thursday, a competition will be played for the Bill Blair Trophy, for those no longer in match play.

4. Qualifying Rounds. Two qualifying rounds of 18 holes will be played: - one round on Monday 4th August

   and one on Tuesday 5th August, for scratch and handicap prizes as follows (the lowest aggregate over two

   rounds to count).

                                Scratch prizes value £120, £90, £65, £45, £30, £20.

                                Handicap prizes value £95, £70, £45, £35, £25, £15.

   New trophies to be awarded to the best scratch and best under 21yrs scratch qualifiers. In the event of ties

   in the qualifying rounds for places in the match play sections, the result of the second round to be taken and

   if still a tie, the last nine holes of the round to be taken etc. NB - If a competitor wins a prize in both sections,

   he will be awarded the one of greater value.

5. a. Match Play. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 6th, 7th, 8th August.

   The 32 players with the lowest aggregate Scratch Scores will play for the late Colonel Butter's Challenge

   Cup, with a final of 36 holes. In this draw, the top 8 players will be seeded. The winner receives prize value

   of £320 and a miniature cup; the runner-up will receive prize value of £235; the two semi-finalists, prize value

   £120 each.

   b. Of those not qualifying for the Challenge Cup, the 32 players with the lowest aggregate net scores, to play off by

   match play (under handicap) for the Handicap Cup; with a final of 18 holes, for a prize value of £210, £120 and

   two of £70 each. The winner will receive a miniature cup.

   c. For those competitors who are aged 55yrs and over on the first day of qualifying, a new match play competition

   will be played for. The 16 players with the lowest aggregate net scores, to play off by match play (under handicap)

   towards a final of 18 holes and will receive a prize fund of; £140, £70, and two of £35 each. The winner will receive

   a new trophy.

   NB - Those who are eligible to enter this section, must notify the Tournament Secretary on their competition entry form

   of their intention to play in this section, should they qualify.

6. Entry times can be requested for the George Hogg Trophy on the Sunday and for times before 9.00am

   during qualifying rounds.Thereafter competitor's will be drawn in handicap order from 9.00am. The Ballot for partners

for partners will be posted on the website and exhibited in the clubhouse on Saturday 26th July.

7. Finalists are requested to wear jacket, collar and tie for the presentation after the finals.

8. The committee reserve the right to reject any entry, and to alter and amend any of the foregoing rules and to decide

   finally, any dispute which may arise in connection with the tournament. They also reserve the right to alter the format

   of the tournament, as laid out, should the tournament be affected by inclement weather.

9. All competitors are invited to enter a Pitlochry Golf Club medal round for the Calder Cup, on Saturday 9th August,

   at a members guest rate of £10. Names and entry to the professional on the week.

10. Refunds of entry into this tournament will not be considered after Saturday 5th July.
